1859 Musket converted to 20 ga shotgun
After the civil War old muskets were converted to shotguns and sold for 1.00 to former slaves by the US Government
This appears to be one of those conversions. The lock is dated 1859. We have identified this as an original Austrian Lorenz musket converted to a shotgun.
Overall condition is not great. It is a cool piece of history. Mos of these have been re converted to muskets to regain some of their value. This one has been sitting in a closet for a lot of year
